VINTAGE 2 / THREE-BAND COMPRESSOR

SHARK TRIAD

Vintage feel.
Visible compression.

Shape the low end, steady the midrange and restrain bright peaks. Work with hardware-style controls, then open the digital view to see how each band responds.

3 bands · Linked crossover graph · Stereo / Mid / Side · 48 presets · A/B/C

Give each band its own job.

Independent threshold, attack, ratio and release let you control bass movement without making every treble peak work the entire mix. Use band Solo to choose the right crossover boundaries.

See the compression.

Press GRAPH for three colored frequency regions, draggable crossovers and threshold sliders. The gold curve shows measured band gain reduction with smooth transitions; it is not a spectrum analyzer or an exact response plot.

Choose the movement.

Feed Forward and Feed Back styles, three knees and detector shaping let you adjust the response. Use Mix for parallel compression and per-band Stereo, Mid or Side modes for focused control.

Compare your decisions.

Start with one of 48 factory settings, save your own, and compare with A/B/C, undo/redo, Gain Match and Bypass. Click the logo to cycle black, silver, rough green and rough purple finishes.

QUESTIONS, ANSWERED

Frequently asked
questions.

Compression, crossovers, the digital view and everyday workflow.

What is Shark Triad?

A three-band compressor for mix buses, mastering work, drums and stems. Low, mid and high frequencies have independent compression controls, with an optional digital view beneath the hardware-style panel.

Does the graph change the sound?

Opening GRAPH only changes the display. Dragging either crossover line changes the actual frequency split and updates its analog knob. The three threshold sliders control the same thresholds as the knobs.

What does the gold curve show?

It displays measured band gain reduction with smoothed transitions between bands. It is not a spectrum analyzer or an exact frequency-response measurement. Band Gain, Output, Mix and Drive are not included in this curve. The plot spans 0 to 24 dB of reduction; numerical readings can exceed that range.

How do I start on a mix or master?

Load START HERE - Gentle Three-Band Glue. Begin with Drive at zero and adjust thresholds for about 1-3 dB of reduction on louder passages. Compare using Gain Match and Bypass. Reduce Ratio or Mix if the result loses punch.

Can I process the center and sides separately?

Yes. Each band offers Stereo, Mid or Side compression. Mid affects the center dynamics; Side affects the difference signal. Band Gain still changes the whole band. Side mode has no meaningful side signal on mono material.

What is the difference between IN, COMPRESS and BYPASS?

IN disables compression for one band while its gain remains active. COMPRESS disables compression globally but retains the other processing. BYPASS returns to the original input after its short transition.

Is Triad a limiter, or is Gain Match a loudness meter?

Neither. Output is a level trim with no guaranteed ceiling. Gain Match compares signal power and settles over time; it is not LUFS matching. Use a separate output meter and limiter when needed.

Can I save settings and change the appearance?

Triad includes 48 factory starting presets, searchable browsing, favorites, user presets, A/B/C comparison and undo/redo. Click the logo for black, silver, rough green or rough purple. Themes do not change the audio.

Which formats are included in this version?

The v0.3.0 project is configured for AU, VST3 and Standalone, with macOS 12.0 as its target minimum and Intel/Apple Silicon architectures configured. This documentation does not certify every Mac or host combination. A signed installer and commercial activation are not included in this source checkpoint.

Is it linear phase or oversampled?

Triad uses phase-aligned IIR crossovers, not linear-phase filters. Drive has no oversampling in v0.3.0 and can introduce aliasing at higher settings. For clean mastering, begin with Drive at zero.
